You might have noticed that your local spa is now offering a CBD massage. More spas across the country are adding CBD to their treatment menus. If you don’t have time or just don’t have the money to splurge on a day at the spa, you can have a CBD massage right at home. CBD tinctures can easily be added to your favorite massage oil.
In this guide, we’ll help you determine which massage oils are best for the type of massage that you need as well as combining the right essential oils for your specific needs.
Types of Massage
Before you decide that you want a CBD massage, they type of massage is also important. There is a different type of massage for different needs and reasons from muscle spasms to relaxation, and everything in between. For some, a massage is also another way to incorporate intimacy between partners – it doesn’t have to result in a sexual encounter, intimacy can be experienced in multiple different ways.
The most common types of massage are:
- Deep tissue
- Hot stone
- Sports reasons
- Trigger point
- Spasm cessation
Don’t let this list be overwhelming. If you’ve already had a few massages in your life, you know what works for you for specific situations. Deep tissue massages are great for those that have aches and pains, injuries and chronic issues. Shiatsu, Thai, trigger point, therapeutic, spasm cessation and reflexology can also be used for these situations. If you’ve been injured, consider a sports massage.
For relaxation purposes, reflexology, aromatherapy, Swedish and hot stone massages might be the best options.
Couples massages are a great way to connect with your partner and experience relaxation together. It is a form of intimacy.
Aromatherapy massages incorporate incense or essential oils. Those essential oils can be applied and can be wafting through the air in a diffuser. The idea of aromatherapy is to help your mind relax so that your body can relax. The aroma you smell should be a combination that is relaxing to you. You can ask your aroma therapist to create a specific combination of oils if you know which you prefer.
Creating your CBD Massage Atmosphere
Massages are supposed to be relaxing and therapeutic. To achieve that, creating the right atmosphere for your CBD massage can help. This includes making sure the lighting is right. Choosing the right playlist if you enjoy music during a massage. It also includes making sure that the space is private and comfortable.
The atmosphere you create might go along with the type of massage or goal of the massage. For example, if you choose an intimate massage to set the tone for the rest of a romantic evening, try soaking in a rose petal bath before hopping onto the massage table. Make sure the aroma is right. Yes, you can use a chocolate massage oil concoction that is edible for this too. We’ll give you a simple recipe below. It entices touch and romance. It also incorporates a Canna Trading Co. CBD tincture.
If you need a massage to get you motivated and loosened up for the day – choose an upbeat playlist and invigorating essential oils to wake up your senses. Invigorating aromas are options like citrus, peppermint and lemongrass.
Making your CBD Massage Oil
How do you make CBD massage oil? It’s a lot easier than you think. What you’ll need is a small squeeze bottle that olds 1 or 2 fluid ounces. You’ll also need Canna Trading Co. CBD tincture/s and a base massage oil. Now, if you don’t have time to go buy a massage oil you can easily use coconut oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil or even a good quality extra virgin olive oil. They all moisturize your skin and have other beneficial properties.
What you’ll want to do is put 1 cup of your base massage oil in a bowl and then 1 or 2 full droppers of your choice Canna Trading Co. CBD tincture. We’ll suggest a few specific tinctures for some of the combinations we’ll share in the next section. Several of our tinctures actually mirror the aromas that you’ll be creating with essential oils. We’ll get to the essential oils soon.
Whisk the oils to combine them and place them in your squeeze bottle.
Adding Essential Oils to your Custom CBD Massage Oil Creations
Essential oils do add aroma to massage oil, but they also have valuable terpenes that have accepted and recognized benefits. It might look like you’re adding a lot of essential oils to your base, but the drops are quite small. Try these combinations in your base CBD massage oil recipe that we provided above.
Make sure that you shake your bottle well before applying your essential oil-infused CBD massage oil. You can also warm the oil before applying it by placing the bottle in a bowl or tall glass of hot water or use a baby bottle warmer.
For this CBD massage oil, you’ll want to use either the Canna Trading Co. Peppermint CBD Tincture or the Alchemy tincture. To that base oil, you’ll add 8 drops of peppermint essential oil and 8 drops of rosemary essential oil.
If you need help waking up your body and mind, use our Canna Trading Co. Organic Olive Oil Tincture, 10 drops of sweet orange essential oil, 12 drops of Lemongrass essential oil and 6 drops of eucalyptus essential oil.
For a romantic CBD massage, you’re going to start with chocolate. You’ll need ½ cup of dark chocolate and 2 tablespoons of your base CBD massage oil. We suggest using either our Canna Trading Co. Peppermint or Vanilla tincture (use both if you wish). To this you’ll match your essential oils to the tincture used. If you use the peppermint tincture, use 8 drops of peppermint essential oil. If you use the vanilla tincture, you’ll use 8 drops of vanilla essential oil. Melt the chocolate slowly first. Then add your base oil and the essential comes last.
If you want this to be edible, make sure you are using a food-grade essential oil – otherwise leave those out and just use vanilla bean paste or pure peppermint extract oil from the baking section at your grocery store.
In the evening when it’s time to relax, grab the Canna Trading Co. Sleep, Inflammation or Anxiety tincture and add that to your chosen base oil. Now comes the essential oils – you’ll need 8 drops of cajuput essential oil, 8 drops of eucalyptus or menthol essential oil, 6 drops of lemongrass essential oil and 6 drops of either sandalwood or chamomile essential oil.
If you prefer something a little lighter, just mix 10 drops each of lavender and vanilla essential oils.
You can have a CBD massage anytime you want. You don’t have to spend a bunch of money on a day spa. These CBD massage oil recipes are very simple and you’ve likely already got a Canna Trading Co. CBD tincture on hand – so why not put it to use in a different way? Have fun making your own blends of essential oils too.
