In the summer, making meal time a little easier is a plus. In many areas of the country it gets humid. Even with air conditioning on, you still feel the humidity. Making sauces and proteins that can be used for several different purposes is much easier. We’re going to give you a few different sauces that can be used for several different dishes this summer.
Simple CBD Pesto
Pesto is one of those sauces that has hot and cold uses. If you are going to use this sauce for a hot food, it’s best to add it right before you serve to protect the cannabinoids in the CBD tincture. You can also use whatever nut you have on hand or even sunflower kernels. It’s a rather versatile sauce.
4 cups basil
1 cup fresh Italian flat leaf parsley
2 large cloves of garlic smashed and peeled
1 ½ cups extra virgin olive oil
2 droppers Canna Trading Co. Organic Olive Oil Tincture
½ cup toasted pine nuts (or any other nut you have on hand)
1 cup grated parmesan
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon sea salt
Add the garlic and nuts to your food processor or blender. Pulse for 30 seconds. Add in your parsley and basil. Pulse another 30 seconds and add the salt and pepper. With the food processor or blender on blend, start to drizzle in the olive oil. The pesto will have a little texture to it. Once all of the olive oil has been added, add in the CBD tincture and parmesan cheese. Blend for 1 more minute.
This pesto can be used for:
- Pasta salad
- As a topping to any protein
- Added to eggs right before serving
- Spread on top of garlic bread
- Added to guacamole
- Added to mayo for sandwiches
- Added to pizza just before serving
- As a dressing for orzo or cous cous salads
This versatile sauce is great for summertime since toasting pine nuts or other nuts only takes a few minutes and can even be done on your outdoor grill. The house will not heat up too much from having a burner on for just a few minutes.
Buttermilk CBD Ranch
Once you make buttermilk ranch dressing from scratch, you might not ever buy it in the bottle again. It tastes so much better when you make it yourself. The addition of CBD tincture adds that little something extra that takes it to the next level.
¾ cup sour cream
¾ cup real mayonnaise (not salad dressing, it won’t taste right)
½ cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons dry Italian seasoning
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 droppers Canna Trading Co. Alchemy
2 teaspoons dry dill weed
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper or peppercorn medley
½ teaspoon sea salt
All you need to do with this recipe is put all of the ingredients in a bowl and whisk Taste and adjust your seasoning.
Uses other than as a traditional salad dressing:
- Taco salad
- Chicken salad
- Thicken it with more sour cream and mayo to make a ranch dip
- Pasta salad (this is a great alternative in cheddar cheese macaroni salad)
- Pizza dipper
- Add barbecue sauce for a creamy alternative
- Drizzled over bacon cheddar or chili cheese fries
- Add hot sauce, sambal or cayenne pepper for spicy ranch to dip fried chicken in
Ranch dressing is so versatile. It goes with almost everything – just ask a toddler. Once you make it yourself and are spoiled by the delicious flavor, you may never buy it pre-made again. It stores in your fridge, if sealed tightly, for up to 3 weeks. It’s best to let it sit for a couple of hours after making it so that the flavors can really marry together.
The Easiest Asian-Inspired CBD Sauce Ever
Asian flavors are quite popular. There’s just something about a specific combination of these flavors that make almost any dish magic. For this recipe, you can use either Canna Trading Co. Organic Olive Oil Tincture or Alchemy.
½ cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1 teaspoon Sambal (more if you like it spicier)
2 green onions
2 droppers Canna Trading Co. CBD Tincture
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger (substitute dry if that’s what you have on hand)
2 cloves garlic smashed, peeled and minced
1 teaspoon fish or oyster sauce
¼ teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon celery leaves
1 teaspoon dry ground mustard
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
Use kitchen shears to snip your green onions thinly on a diagonal – use the whites all the way to the root too. Mince your garlic as finely as possible. Toast you sesame seeds for just a couple of minutes in a nonstick skillet.
Put all of the ingredients into a bowl and whisk well to combine.
Here are some ways to use this sauce as well as a couple of options for making variations of it:
- Add a tablespoon of Dijon mustard and this becomes a great dressing for an Asian-inspired slaw
- Add to fried rice, grilled chicken or steak
- Toss in stir fried vegetables
- Make a cold Asian noodle salad
- Add peanut butter to give it a Thai twist for use on Thai dishes
- Pad Thai flavor bomb sauce
This sauce is delicious and versatile. It can be used in warm or cold dishes. Could you make this a creamy Asian dressing? Absolutely! If you want to maintain the Asian them, add about ¼ cup of Japanese mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard to the sauce.
This sauce would be great on a piece of cedar plank salmon as well as on shrimp, scallops and hearty white fish as well. If you are vegetarian or vegan you can absolutely marinate tofu in this or dress your tofu dish with it.
