What is Microdosing?
Microdosing is the practice of taking very small doses several times a day. You can microdose with cannabis, CBD and even pharmaceuticals (when suggested by your doctor). For some, it’s the right method – others might need to take a different approach.
Microdosing CBD Isn’t for Everyone
Microdosing CBD isn’t something that works for everyone. As with cannabis and most other substances, the way your body reacts is individualized. A dose that works for you might be too much or not enough for someone else.
When you’re new to CBD it’ll take a little while to figure out what your ideal dose is. It’s best to start with the manufacturer’s suggested dose and evaluate after a week or two. Ask yourself, do I feel better? Do I see an improvement? If your answers are yes, then the manufacturer’s suggested dose is likely suitable for your needs.
If you don’t notice enough of an improvement after a month, attempt increasing your dose in small amounts – such as a milligram or two. Use this increased dose for a week and evaluate again. Increase in these small amounts until you have found a dose that seems to do the trick for you.

How to determine if Microdosing CBD is Right for you
If you find that you need to take multiple doses of CBD daily, then it might be time to consider microdosing CBD. For some, those smaller doses several times a day delivering CBD and terpenes is a better option. Taking larger doses a few times a day may also cause you to go over budget.
Yes, your body can build up a tolerance to CBD, but this takes time. Adjusting your dose of CBD is easy, as we’ve mentioned above. It’s ideal to give your body CBD regularly if you choose to adopt a CBD regimen. It doesn’t have to be at the same time every day as you’d do with most pharmaceuticals – CBD can be taken just when you need it or as part of your daily maintenance program.
When you get your first order of CBD products, try the suggested dose for a week or two first. Then, try microdosing for a week or two. When you microdose, you’ll cut the suggested dose down by at least half, so instead of a full dropper, you’d take half of a dropper instead. There are several benefits to microdosing CBD. The first is that you’re taking smaller doses. The second is that these little doses several times a day are giving your body a little break between doses but the increased frequency might be helping your body get a little boost of cannabinoids when it needs it most. Your body relies on cannabinoids, endocannabinoids and phytocannabinoids. When it has to “starve” for them, homeostasis (balance) can be thrown off. When your body’s balance is thrown off, it can take a little longer to get back where it needs to be.

The only real drawback of microdosing CBD is remembering to take those smaller doses several times a day. While it only takes a minute to take a couple of hits of a CBD vape pen or a few drops of CBD tincture, remembering to do so is the only struggle. It helps to set a timer or get into a routine where you’re taking those microdoses after meals, after snacks or at scheduled times throughout the day.

When microdosing CBD, keep in mind that you don’t have to use the same CBD product all day long. You can use multiple methods depending on what your prefer and where you are. For some, starting with a low-dose CBD capsule in the morning is ideal and then they might boost their bodies with small doses of vape or tincture throughout the day. You might start with an edible and alternate topicals, inhalers or an oral option. The types of CBD products that you use is up to you, and how you choose to use those different methods throughout the day is also your choice. It’s mostly about personal preference when it comes to CBD delivery method.
